Microfine vitamin A feed supplement for reptiles and amphibians
Item number RK1663
Microfine vitamin A feed supplement for reptiles and amphibians. It contains pre-formed vitamin A and natural ingredients containing beta-carotene.
INFORMATION: Preformed vitamin A (retinol) is an essential fat-soluble vitamin produced naturally by animal organisms. Vegetable sources of vitamin A, such as beta-carotene or other carotenoids, must first be converted into the form that is active for animals to be absorbed by the body. Carotenoids can be converted to retinol by some species if they are kept under optimal conditions (such as appropriate lighting). Nevertheless, it has been shown that deficiency symptoms can occur when animals are not supplied with preformed vitamin A in the form of retinol. This feed supplement provides pre-formed vitamin A in the form of dried retinyl acetate powder in combination with natural resources of beta-carotene derived from algae.
DOSING RECOMMENDATION: This product contains a high proportion of pre-formed vitamin A (retinol). As a regular feed supplement it should not be given more than once a week via the feed insects or vegetarian feed mixtures. Vitamin A Plus can be used in therapeutic measures, then the weekly dose can be increased to treat vitamin A deficiency symptoms. However, these treatments should only be carried out after consultation with a veterinarian who knows amphibians or reptiles. Retinol and other fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin E and vitamin D3 can be absorbed by the body. An overdose of vitamin A over a long period of time can lead to hypervitaminosis and cause permanent damage to your pet or even death.
